Overview of MIND ID

PT Mineral Industri Indonesia (Persero), or MIND ID, is Indonesia's state-owned mining industry holding company. Its members include several national mining companies, among them PT Antam Tbk, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Freeport Indonesia, PT Inalum, PT Timah Tbk, and PT Vale Indonesia Tbk.

As the parent of many large-scale entities, MIND ID needs internal oversight that is consistent, well documented, and can be monitored from one place. The internal audit function at the holding level needs a complete picture of audit status, findings, and follow-ups so that every risk can be addressed on time.

Business Challenges Faced

Before having a dedicated system, MIND ID's internal audit process still relied heavily on manual management. Running audits without a system left information decentralized and increased the risk of human error. The main challenges included:

1. Audit monitoring was not centralized: information on audit status, findings, and follow-ups was scattered, making it difficult to monitor fully and on time.
2. Monitoring efficiency needed improvement: much of the work was manual and repetitive, taking up auditors' time that could otherwise be spent on analysis.

To address these needs, AiMIND (MIND ID Internal Audit Monitoring System) was developed: a web application customized to MIND ID's workflow, from audit planning to findings reporting. Digitalizing internal audit through AiMIND has made MIND ID's audit process faster, more accurate, and more secure. Internal measurements show that audit efficiency increased by up to 40%. Because data only needs to be recorded once and reports are generated automatically, human error from manual input and recaps has also been significantly reduced.

AiMIND has also become the meeting point for oversight at the holding level. For example, the internal audit application of PT Antam Tbk is integrated with AiMIND so that audit results at the subsidiary can be monitored directly by MIND ID management.
